It's been a while...

This is the finished playroom for the girls it is about 10x12 with a slanted ceiling as you can see. It is a great space for the girls we just have to get it decorated for them. We painted it a gray -blue color but the picture does not show it very well. This is the gameroom ceiling we painted that an accent color for the walls.
This is the gameroom that we still need to get put together, the walls are a taupe color. It is going to be a space for my boys to hang out in and the decor will be sports memoribilia...can you tell with the Griffey jersey in the background.
Here is a view of the carpet on the steps. How does the color look to you. Do you think it is too dark?
This is the corner of my boys bedroom. It is painted in accessible beige but it is hard to tell in the picture. I am going to do a wide stripe around the room to accentuate the bedding.
This is the girls bedroom and again the picture is not very true to the color. It is more of a yellow-green than that bright of a green. It is one of my favorite colors in the rooms that we did. Can you tell we painted all the ceilings also.

Well, where do I begin? Let me start by apologizing for my absents but sometimes my ambitions get the better of me. I take on more than I can handel at times with very good intentions until the overload hits me and then something has to give. Usually that is working on the blog and laundry. Then it all snowballs and the laundry is out of control with 7 people in the house and it takes me weeks to catch up.
We have progressed on the house somewhat. The playroom is now complete and the bedrooms have been painted as well as the gameroom. New carpeting has also been installed on the 2nd floor. After the carpeting was installed it took me a few day's to get use to the new color. The carpet before was very light and the new carpet is much darker. I am liking my new carpeting better everyday and I am sure it will wear better with the kids.

My other projects will have to be place on hold until I get my house back to being organized...ugh!!

Making Progress...

Well, we are making progress on all the construction of our house. The girls play room should be complete by Wednseday...Yea!!! I will post pictures later this evening or this morning, we should have 2 of the bedrooms painted with at least one coat. I was going to post pictures of the paint swatches but I was unable to get the pictures to turn out in such a way to show you all what the color really looks like. I hope to have pictues up with paint on some walls for you all to see.

Family...

Good friends and family are the most important thing in life. As much as I love to decorate and pick out colors, fabrics, design rooms and take pictures without good friends and my family I don't think I would enjoy it as much as I do now. There would be no one to decorate for but myself and one of the things I like about decorating and room design is using a space to make life more comfortable for the people in my life that I love.

If I did not have my family and friends, who would I take pictures of. I love to photography but without my friends and my beautiful family I would not love it the way that I do. I just wanted to introduce you all to my family and welcome you. Thank you all for becoming our new friends.
This is my family

Slow and Steady...

I am an impatient person when it comes to having my house in order. I am trying very hard to learn that having patients in all things we do truly in a virtue. Just because I am trying to use take a small walk-in storage place in our home and make it a place for my girls to play, life does not stop and wait for this project to be completed. Oh, no it doesn't!!
Let me explain, about a month ago both my husband and I noticed a small spot on the ceiling right above where my oldest sons sleeps. Since we have only been in the house since August of 2008 we thought that maybe it was there when we bought the house and we just didn't notice it. That would be OK because we usually end up wanting to paint our houses with the colors we choose and sometimes we paint our ceilings a complementary color to the wall or the same color as the wall. Fast forward a few days and as I am doing laundry I notice my dryer is having trouble getting the clothes dry...I had to run the dryer through three complete cycles to get the clothes dry. That is a problem...5 kids and a husband...PROBLEM!!! My laundry piles kept getting larger and larger as you all can imagine. Hmmmm....what could be the problem??? I am in my oldest sons room again and notice the small spot on the ceiling is now accompanied by 4 more much larger spots. Is the roof leaking...I don't think so, his room is on the 1st floor and the roof would be over the 2nd floor...so that would NOT be the problem. My husband comes home from work and I show him the ceiling, so we walk outside and low and behold, walla there is the dryer vent on the outside wall of the house. It is going through the ceiling in my sons room.
The dryer vent is clogged there is the problem. It is causing too much moisture in the ceiling since the duct is clogged. Problem solved call someone out to clean out the duct and it will solve the whole problem. NOT even close!!! The guy that was here to clean out the duct came to find me because oh yes there is a PROBLEM!!! Apparently the builder of our 10 year old house did not install the dryer vent going out of the house correctly. The only way to solve this is cut the sheet rock out, replace the pipe and put 2x4's in to keep the pipe from draining back into the house, and then patch it with new sheet rock, tape and texture. Then problem solved.
I am trying to tell myself to remain calm and this is just life...something to laugh at when we are old and gray.
Here is the view of the Ceiling and the new pipe with 2x4's. New sheet rock to be put on in a couple of days...awe I can do my laundry again in a timely fashion.

Here is the progress on the girls playroom. Sheet rock will be boxed around the air ducts to hide them. I think this will be a fun place for them to play, when it is finished. I'll keep you posted!!

Happy Anniversary...

Today is our anniversary...and we are still just as much in love as the day we married.
I love memories of us." Love is patient, love is kind love is never failing..."

Wordless Wednesday...

Well, Im not to good with being wordless so I will try and be brief. This is a 12x12 floored walk -in attic space. This room will be transformed into my 2 girls playroom or hang out since they are getting older. Today the AC guy is moving the ducts you see in the picture and then the electrician will be coming to install a couple more outlets and lighting. After all that is complete the room will be sheet rocked and textured and ready to paint.

I am loving these projects, I just don't enjoy living in the mess that they create....I can't wait to share pictures of the final product.

In the backyard...

The background picture behind the title of this blog is indeed the pool in our backyard. This is one of the big draws to this house when we purchased it in July of 2008. We have so much fun in this backyard. It is the most incredible backyard we have ever had, but we can not take the credit since this is the hard work of the previous owners.
Our 5 children enjoy the backyard so much throughout most of the year, since we are typically warm most of the year here in Texas. Our yard is very unique because it wraps around our entire house, which gives plenty of grassy area for the children and their friends to play.
We have always wanted to live on a culda sac but never have until now. We are loving that with our kids. I love being outside and fiddling around in some of the beautiful gardens that surround the house.
